1. FOREWORD

This document has been prepared by the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life (hereinafter also only "DLFL"), which owns the website www.laityfamilylife.va (hereinafter also only "Portal") and which also manages its contents.

The Portal uses technology called cookies primarily to make its services simple and efficient for the users (hereinafter also just "Users"), who visit the Portal.

This cookie policy (hereinafter also just "Cookie Policy") that should be read as a supplement to the information provided in the Privacy Policy, which we invite you to review, is meant to describe the types of cookies in general and those used on the Portal, the reasons and conditions for using them, and finally how to disable them.

2. DEFINITION AND FUNCTION OF COOKIES

Cookies are small files that are sent from a web server to the user's Internet browser. The user's Internet browser automatically stores them on the computer and automatically sends them back to the server each time the user accesses the site.

There are various types of cookies, some to make use of the Portal more effective, others to activate certain features. Cookies, among other things, allow a page to store and retrieve information about a user's browsing habits or device, which, depending on the information contained and how the device is used, can also be used to recognize the user.

3. CONFIGURATION OF COOKIES

Cookies can be classified according to several parameters. They can be first-party cookies and third-party cookies depending on which entity manages the domain from which the cookies are sent; and session cookies and persistent cookies depending on the period of time during which they remain stored on the user's device.

Depending on the purpose for which the data obtained is processed, it is possible to define the following types of cookies:

-       Technical Cookies;

-       Analytics or analytical Cookies;

-       Behavioral advertising or profiling Cookies;

-       Cookies related to Social Network widgets;

-       Cookies related to Social Buttons

• Technical Cookies

These cookies allow the user to browse on the website or the application and to use the various options or services available therein (videos to facilitate purchases, social networks, etc.). These cookies, always sent by the web server, are necessary to correctly view the website and any products/services offered, unless the user changes the settings in their browser, thus affecting how website pages are displayed.

 • Analytics or analytical Cookies

These cookies allow an anonymous analysis of a website user's behavior and allow for the evaluation of user activity and the development of browsing profiles aimed at improving websites as well.

Cookies in this category are usually used to obtain information about the use of the site. This information is usually used for anonymous statistical analysis in order to improve use of the site and to make its contents more interesting and relevant to users' interests. This type of cookie collects data anonymously about user activity. Analytical cookies can be sent by the site itself or, as is often the case, by third-party domains. In the case where these cookies are sent from third-party domains external to the site, these are used with the aim of gathering information about the use of the site by users in an anonymous manner such as: pages visited, time spent browsing, traffic source origins, geographical location.

• Behavioral advertising or profiling Cookies

These cookies allow for the management of advertising on the website based on the user's actions and browsing habits, from which the profile is obtained, thus making it possible to customize the advertising displayed in the user's browser. These are the cookies necessary to create user profiles in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user within the pages of the site.

• Cookies related to Social Network widgets

These cookies make it easier for users to interact and/or share content through social networks. The presence of plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites operated by third parties. The management of information collected by "third parties" is governed by the relevant policies to which users must refer.

• Cookies related to Social Buttons

Social Buttons are those special "buttons" on the website that represent social network icons (e.g., Twitter) and allow users who are browsing to directly interact with social networks with a "click".

Social Buttons are links that redirect users to the social network accounts portrayed. Through the use of these buttons, no third-party cookies are therefore installed. Furthermore, the site does not share any browsing information or user data acquired from the social networks accessed through the Social Buttons.

4. COOKIES USED ON THE WEBSITE
