A Precious Model

Interview with Ireland’s Primate Martin: “The Catholic family is beautiful: it is based on love and grows in a community of families”

“We want to show that the model of the Catholic family can attract; it’s beautiful. We are offering the beauty of our vision, that of a man and a woman united in love and committed to life.”

These words were spoken by Armagh's Archbishop Eamon Martin, Primate of Ireland, in an interview that the News Agency ACIstampa released a few days ago in view of the Dublin World Meeting of Families.

“The reality is that the Church—continues Archbishop Martin—no longer has the monopoly of the concept of the family. No family comes down from Paradise perfectly formed, as Pope Francis explained in Amoris Laetitia. However, the Church’s model of the family is beautiful; it is founded in love itself and grows in a family community.”

At the World Meeting, the families will be the protagonists: “They will talk together as a family, sharing joys and hopes, but also the concern about the struggles and challenges to be undertaken in a space of faith.”
