“The Gospel of the Family” is the theme of the 11th Annual Conference, organized by the Theological Faculty of Emilia Romagna and scheduled for 7 and 8 March, in Bologna. The event, to be held in the Salone Bolognini of the Convent San Domenico—said Father Attilio Carpin, director of the Department of Systematic Theology—”is born from the Church’s need to offer an adequate pastoral response in accordance with the essential criteria of every pastoral initiative and action: fidelity to God’s plan for human love and faithfulness to the true good of man.”
The conference is composed of three sessions: the first, “The Synod on Marriage and the Family,” intends “to highlight the most important or problematic aspects that emerged during the last two Synods of Bishops.” During the first session, Fr. Fausto Arici, Prior of the Italian Province St. Dominic, Msgr. Erio Castellucci, Archbishop of Modena-Nonantola, and Msgr. Enrico Solmi, Bishop of Parma and former president of the Italian Episcopal Conference’s Permanent Committee on Family and Life, will speak.
Fr. Rafael Díaz Dorronsoro (Pontifical University of the Holy Cross), Rosanna Virgili (Istituto Teologico Marchigiano) and Fr. Guido Bendinelli, Dean of the Theological Faculty of Emilia-Romagna, will take part in the conference’s second session on “Marriage and Family in Theology,” intended to “emphasize the role of marriage and the family in God’s plan, despite human frailty.” Finally, during the third session on “Marital and Family Issues”, questions of dogma, anthropology, moral theology, and Canon Law will be addressed in the lectures of three professors of the Theological Faculty of Emilia-Romagna: Fr. Attilio Carpin OP, Fr. Giorgio Carbone OP and Fr. Daniele Drago OP.
