The International Forum Catholic Action proposes the initiative "A Minute for Peace," to be held on Thursday, 8 June, at 1:00 p.m.

on the occasion of the third anniversary of the prayer meeting with Israeli President Peres and Palestinian President Abu Mazen, wanted by Pope Francis in the Vatican to invoke the gift of peace (8 June 2014).

The International Forum Catholic Action, the World Union of Catholic Women, the Italian Catholic Action, the Argentine Catholic Action, and the National Justice and Peace Commission of the Argentine Bishops' Conference invite their members and all those wishing to take the suffering of the peoples without peace—above all those in the Middle East and especially in Syria—into their hearts and transform it into prayer.

At 1:00 p.m. on June 8, everyone is invited, wherever they may be—at work, on the street, at home—to stop and devote a minute to a prayer that “goes a very long way,” embracing the world.

According to the promoters of the initiative, this is “an easy way to remember that each of us can be an instrument of peace every day,” especially in a context, such as ours today, where violence continues to strike defenseless people and the arms race seems to be unceasing: Now, there is a need for daily prayer and daily commitment to peace for all—at all levels—starting with the laity.
