Ecumenical Prayer Vigil on the Eve of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops (30 September 2023)

Following the announcement of the Holy Father at the Angelus on Sunday 15 January, accredited journalists are advised that on Monday 23 January 2023, at 11.30 am, in the Press Office of the Holy See, Sala San Pio X, via dell'Ospedale 1, a Press conference will be held to present the Ecumenical Prayer Vigil and the Together initiative - gathering of the People of God on the eve of the XVI General Assembly of the bishops on the theme: "For a synodal Church: communion, participation and mission".

Speakers: 

- Em.mo Card. Jean-Claude Hollerich, S.I., Archbishop of Luxembourg; General Rapporteur of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops; 

- Frére Alois, Prior of the Community of Taizé; 

- His Grace the Archbishop Ian Ernest, personal representative of the Archbishop of Canterbury at the Holy See, director of the "Anglican Center" in Rome; 

- His Eminence Khajag Barsamian, representative of the Armenian Apostolic Church at the Holy See (Catolicoxato Di Etchmiadzin)

Pastor Christian Krieger, President of the Conference of European Churches and the French Protestant Federation.

The Ecumenical Prayer Vigil, which will be presided over by Pope Francis, is part of an ecumenical initiative promoted by the Community of Taizé in collaboration with the Diocese of Rome, the General Secretariat of the Synod, the Dicastery for the Promotion of Christian Unity, the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, as well as numerous other Christian Churches and Ecclesial and Ecumenical Associations.

The press conference will also be attended, as auditors, by various leaders or representatives of the Vatican dicasteries, of the Diocese of Rome, and of the Christian Churches and communities.
