“This is My House”

“To the dear families of Umbria. The booklet summarizing the contents of the Encyclical Laudato si’, which will be given to you by your priests during the Paschal Blessing, is particularly significant for your Umbria, the beloved land of St. Francis. With my blessing, and I ask you to pray for me.”

Pope Francis wrote this on page 3 of a pastoral resource for the 2018 Eucharistic Blessings, published by “La Voce” and presented a few days ago in Bastia (Perugia).

Francis’ autograph letter makes the volume entitled “This is My House” and dedicated to the Encyclical Laudato si’ very special. “Developing the themes of Chapter VI—explains the editorial of the Umbrian Catholic weekly “La Voce”—this resource offers some suggestions for living the commitment to the custody of creation in daily life. The title is a strong reminder of the idea that the earth as the ‘common home’ of all people, that each one—whether a believer or not—is called to protect and respect.”

The volume, with the texts of Paolo Giulietti and photos by Francesca Marinangeli, is designed for families but can also be used in educational activities at school, with young people and adults. The nine stories told in “This is My House,” with adults and children among the protagonists, are inspired by all those of people who, one day, decided to change their lifestyles to help improve the environment.
