Press Office of the Holy See confirmed that Pope Francis will visit Panama to celebrate 34. World Youth Day. His visit is scheduled from January 23rd to 27th, 2019. During the special celebration held on this occasion in Panama City, the Archbishop of Panama and President of the WYD 2019 Local Organising Committee mons. José Domingo Ulloa Mendieta expressed his gratitude to the Holy Father. “This announcement gives an immense joy to the whole organization of WYD and we are encouraged by the certainty that the 'Peter' who will officially come to Panama will be Pope Francis” he said. It reffered to the Pope’s meeting with the WYD volunteers in 2016 in Krakow, when he had said to the youth: “I don’t know if I’m going to be in Panama, but I can tell you one thing: that Peter will be in Panama”.

The Archbishop of Panama reminded also that World Youth Day is an opportunity to discover the best face of the young people who, gathered on this occasion create “a Christian environment, warm, cheerful, friendly, with people who do not know each other; people who share as brothers and sisters without having a common language or culture”.

34. World Youth Day Panama 2019 will be celebrated from January 22nd to 27, 2019 with the main theme: “I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word” (Lk 1:38).
