“In these difficult months, marked by the health, economic, and social emergencies caused by the pandemic, the commitment of the Network to the promotion of studies, research, and formation activities that support the centrality of the family as a fundamental element for the integral development of society and of the individual is as important as ever.”

These are the words that Card. Kevin Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family, and Life, commended to a video message addressed to the Network of Latin American University Family Institutes, on the occasion of their sixth Ordinary Assembly.
“In reality,” continued the Prefect, “the virtues that the family is demonstrating every day during this emergency are nothing more than the confirmation of what we already know: that the family is the fundamental cell of society and a protagonist in the realization of the common good.”

The Network of Latin American University Family Institutes can, in this context, play a substantial role, providing a concrete foundation for the pastoral care of the family through its anthropological, psychological, juridical, and sociological studies. Furthermore, by promoting scientific research in this sector, the Network can address a very wide audience, proposing in contemporary society the value of the Christian family in secular terms and with missionary zeal.
