Young person, stand up, you are the Prophet of the Bicentennial

Message from Card. Farrell on the occasion of the 1st National Youth Day in Peru

From November 19 to 21, the first National Youth Day took place in Peru, on the occasion of the celebration on the Solemnity of Christ the King, of World Youth Day in the particular Churches. For this reason, Card. Farrell wanted to participate in this meeting with a video message addressed to all young Peruvians. The Cardinal recalled the message that Pope Francis wrote to all young people, emphasizing the invitation to "get up” like St. Paul and not to remain crushed by their mistakes, their failures, always considering themselves victims of someone or something, with the risk of spending their lives "feeling sorry for themselves." In fact, every young person is invited to "stand up", like St. Paul, and to proclaim that not everything in the world is darkness. Light exists, good exists, beauty exists.

In addition, the Prefect of the Dicastery emphasised the fact that the bishops have invited young Catholics to be prophets for the Bicentenary that has already been celebrated in various forms throughout the country for months. "Your nation has already come a long way since it achieved independence, but you know well that there is still much to be done to overcome the many social injustices, corruption, individualisms, conflicts and violence that also have recently marked the life of your country. Precisely in this context, you young disciples of Jesus Christ can have a "prophetic voice".
