At the end of today's Angelus, flanked by youngs from Portugal who joined him at the window of the Apostolic Palace, Pope Francis made his online registration for WYD 2023.

Dear young people, I invite you to register for this meeting in which, after a long period of distance, we will rediscover the joy of the fraternal embrace between peoples and between generations which we need so much - said the Pontiff, inaugurating registration, from now on open to all.

The online registration is dedicated to all those who wish to participate in the next WYD in Lisbon: youth groups, bishops, priests and religious people, but also young people of other Christian denominations and religions  who wish to take part in what is the largest youth event in the world. Registration is also provided for those who would like to contribute to WYD as volunteers.

As in previous editions, groups of pilgrims who would like to share their talents during the Youth Festival and various ecclesial groups who would like to meet young people in the City of Joy, formerly known as the Vocations Centre, can also apply via the online system.

Registration for WYD gives participants access to services such as meal, accommodation, transport and insurance - depending on the type of Pilgrim's Package chosen. Through the registration system, participants will also be able to contribute to the Solidarity Fund, which for several editions of WYD allows young people to express their solidarity to cover the costs of participation of young people from less favoured countries.

The WYD registration system can be accessed here.

The next World Youth Day will be held in Lisbon from 1 to 6 August 2023 and will have as its theme the words: "Mary arose and went with haste" (Lk 1:39). It will be preceded by the Days in the Dioceses, also called this time "Days of Encounter", which will take place from 26 to 31 July 2023, in the dioceses and archdioceses of Portugal.
