“The Amoris Laetitia Family Year is an opportunity for us to explore and meditate on the contents of the Apostolic Exhortation on love in the family. We can relaunch our commitment in all areas of family ministry as they touch on so many other sectors of ecclesial life, and we can reach out to church groups and families in every part of the world. In order to reap the fruits of our journey, we have involved bishops, pastoral workers, families and priests over the course of two Synods, and we have entrusted the Amoris Laetitia Family Year to St Joseph because the Holy Father decided to dedicate the whole Church this year to St Joseph, spouse of Our Lady, Patron of the universal Church and guardian of the Holy Family.” With these words, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life greeted the participants at the conference on “Our Daily Love”, an online event organised on 19 March by the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, the Diocese of Rome and the Pontifical John Paul II Theological Institute to open the Amoris Laetitia Family Year on the feast of the Solemnity of St Joseph.

Cardinal Farrell concluded by saying, “I address my appeal to all communities and local Churches to be proactive and to capitalise on the reflections and suggestions in Amoris Laetitia with a spirit of outreach and closeness to people as Pope Francis asks of us."
