On the day of the Solemnity of Christ the King, November 26, 2023, the Church celebrates the World Youth Day in the Particular Churches. On this day, various events will be organized in many parts of the world to celebrate the diocesan World Youth Day.

Walking and sowing words of hope

In his Message for this WYD "Rejoicing in Hope" (Rom 12:12), Pope Francis calls young people to join him on a pilgrimage of hope. On this journey, the Holy Father encourages young people to become missionaries of hope and to share hope with their peers, even using social media wisely: “So my concrete suggestion is this: each day, try to share a word of hope with others. Try to sow seeds of hope in the lives of your friends and everyone around you”.

The Guidelines: a useful tool for organizing the WYD in the Particular Churches

In 2021, the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life published a document entitled Pastoral Guidelines for the Celebration of World Youth Day in the Particular Churches, which aims at offering suggestions on how to organize this annual celebration. That document can be downloaded in various languages from the Dicastery's website www.laityfamilylife.va.

The next event in 2024: a youth ministry conference on Christus Vivit

In this year's message, Pope Francis also directly addressed all youth ministry workers, encouraging them to “reread the Final Document of 2018 and the Apostolic Exhortation Christus Vivit. The time is ripe to take stock of the situation and to work together with hope for the full implementation of that unforgettable Synod”. To promote the rereading and in-depth understanding of Christus Vivit, five years after its publication, the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life is organizing for 2024 an international conference on youth ministry for leaders of bishops' conferences and international movements.
