Catholic communities and musicians from different continents worked together to prepare the multilingual version of the WYD 2019 Theme Song. The original Spanish lyrics, written by the Panamanian Abdiel Jiménez, was translated into English, French, Italian and Potruguese to invite young people from all the world to sing and pray together the words of Mary: “Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word” (Lc 1,38).

"World Youth Day is an international and multilingual event, so the theme song will be sung in several languages because we cannot forget that although most of the pilgrims are expected to be Spanish speakers, many also will be Portuguese, English, Italian and French speakers" explains Pedro Guevara Mann, who coordinated the preparation of the international version of the Theme Song.

The English version was prepared by fr. Rob Galea of Australia, who had been one of the performers of the WYD Sydney 2008 Theme Song. The Italian adaptation was entrusted to mons. Marco Frisina, the composer of “Jesus Christ you are my life”, a song that has become an informal hymn of each WYD since Rome 2000. Ziza Fernandes, Brasilian singer who performed during the WYD 2013 in Rio de Janeiro adapted the Portuguese version of the song. The French translation was done by the Community Chemin Neuf.

Along with the launch of the international version of the theme song of WYD Panama 2019, the Local Organising Committee presented the video that was recorded in different dioceses of Panama to show the beauty and diversity of the country.

The WYD 2019 Theme Song has been published so far into many different language versions i.a.
Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, German, Polish, Czech, Lithuanian, Indonesian and the English dance version.
