The 2017 CISF Report: The Family, an Antidote to the “Silent Hearths”

An epoch-making technological acceleration is what we are experiencing, and 68% of Italy’s households have an active internet connection, with half of the data traffic on smartphones.


This is our country’s profile according to the Italian Center for Family Studies, which in 2017 has again made an in-depth empirical survey, asking 4 thousand respondents how Information & Communication Technologies are modifying private and public relations.


In many homes, the living room has been transformed into a small silent hearth, where the relationships are exclusively virtual. The 2017 CISF Report notes that the family remains the place dedicated to the protection of human values and the responsible and conscientious use of the new technologies.
