Associations and Movements
The Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life supports the life and development of international associations of the faithful, ecclesial movements and new communities. This pastoral task shapes the Church's desire to help aggregations of the faithful fully realize their own objectives, which are always oriented toward the good of the person, the Church and society. To this end, the Dicastery organizes an annual Meeting of Moderators of Lay Associations, Ecclesial Movements and New Communities and other pastoral initiatives.
At the same time, the Dicastery recognizes or constitutes, in accordance with the provisions of Canon Law, aggregations of the faithful and ecclesial movements that have an international character by approving their Statutes; it also deals with any hierarchical appeals relating to the associative life and the apostolate of the laity.
The Dicastery has embraced this great responsibility of accompanying the associations and movements entrusted to it and does so with great care, in an attitude of listening and discernment.
