Half a Century Evangelizing the Young

The Apostolic Exhortation “Gaudete et exsultate” was the theme on which the 16^th US International Meeting of the movement “Encuentros de Promoción Juvenil”, which coincided with its 50th anniversary.

This meeting, held in Phoenix, Arizona, until September 1^st, brought together young people who are actively engaged in evangelizing other young people. During the week several delegations had the opportunity to share ideas and work on strengthening the movement’s commitment in each country. The approximately 100 young participants came from Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Spain, the United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, and Peru.

For the occasion, the Dicastery’s Secretary, Father Alexandre Awi Mello, sent them a video message, and the young people sent a message to Pope Francis.
