A million and a half rosaries, made by needy families in Bethlehem, will be given to the young people preparing for the Panama WYD to encourage them to pray for peace.

This project entitled “AveJmj,” promoted by Msgr. Pierre Bürcher, Bishop emeritus of Reykjavik (Iceland), has been launched in view of the great youth event towards which the association Saint-Jean-Marie Vianney Lausanne and Caritas Jerusalem are working.

“We decided to call the project AveJmj—explains Bishop Bürcher—where ‘Ave’ stands for the prayer of the Rosary to Mary, while Jmj is the acronym (in Spanish) of World Youth Day, but also the initials of the names of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.” The initiative is inspired, adds the Bishop, by the Pope’s call “to pray for peace in the world and in particular for Jerusalem and the Middle East.”
