“Levántate, joven”: from Cuba the invitation to live the joy of the WYD message
Young people from Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre, Cuba won the international competition Challenge JMJ 2021
Challenge JMJ 2021 was an international competition launched by the Cristonautas program of the Fundación Ramón Pané in August 2021. It aimed to translate in the language of dance and music the message of the WYD 2021 theme: "Stand up. I appoint you as a witness of what you have seen" (cf. Acts 26:16).
“There was a very good participation and it was very difficult to select the winner since each one has their beauty, innovation, creativity, each one transmitted a message from their style and culture, so we can say that all were the winners because they responded to this Diocesan WYD 2021 and all encouraged their groups” – say the organizers in the press release informing about the results of the challenge.
The World Youth Day WYD 2021, celebrated in the particular Churches on the Solemnity of Christ the King on November 21, 2021, was not only a single feast day dedicated to the catholic young people, but also as one of the steps of the Church on the way towards the 37. World Youth Day which, guided by the theme: "Mary set out and went with haste" (Luke 1:39), will be held in Lisbon from August 1-6, 2023.
