The World Youth Day in Panama from 22 to 27 January 2019
The World Youth Day will be celebrated from 22 to 27 January 2019. This announcement was made by Panama’s Archbishop, Msgr. José Domingo Ulloa Mendieta, during a press conference today in the capital of the country of the Channel.
Msgr. Ulloa took the opportunity to reiterate the gratitude of the Church of Panama to Pope Francis for choosing their country to host the 2019 WYD. The Bishop explained—as a statement from the Archdiocese relates—that the date was chosen in particular for climatic reasons.
“We are well aware—he said—that, in some countries, this is not a holiday season; but we are convinced that this will not impede many thousands of young people from other continents from coming to Panama to meet Jesus Christ, holding the hand of our Mother the Virgin Mary, and under the guidance of the successor of Peter.”
Speaking to young people, Msgr. Ulloa added: “You are the true protagonists of this World Youth Day. Panama is awaiting you with its heart and arms wide open, to share our faith, to feel a part of the Church!”
