Panama WYD
Presentation of the Panama WYD official theme song

The official theme song of the 34th WYD, which will take place in the Central American country from 22 to 27 January 2019, was formally presented in Panama. The song—inspired by the words of the Virgin Mary in Luke's Gospel: “I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word” (Lk 1:38) —was composed by Abdiel Jiménez, catechist of Risen Christ Parish in Panama City.
A jury composed of experienced musicians and professionals from the music industry selected three compositions, from over fifty proposals sent in response to a public call, and presented them to the Local Organizing Committee which together with the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, chose the song of Abdiel Jiménez.
A simple refrain, with a catchy melody that is easy to sing, will help young people to make theirs the words spoken by Mary at the Annunciation of the Birth of the Lord Jesus: to receive the word of God and to realize it in their own lives. The Archbishop of Panama, H.E. Msgr. José Domingo Ulloa Mendieta, said that the hymn “expresses the mission to which we are called as disciples and missionaries in our time, following the example of the Virgin.”
