From Humanae Vitae to Amoris Laetitia
Along the path to evangelization of human love
Prefect Farrell’s message to the congress organized by Africa Family Life Foundation

“Our perspective must be that of Christ and his loving concern for each of us, our language that of the Holy spirit , driving us towards others not with words but with simplicity and reference to their lives, their needs and their culture”. This is how the Prefect, Kevin Farrell expressed himself in his message to the participants in the Fourth Congress of the “Africa Family Life Federation” being held in Mauritius, in South Africa, on the theme “From Humanae Vitae to Amoris Laetitia: The Evangelization of Human Love”. The Prefect’s message was read today by Monsignor Patrick Dubois, who represented the Dicastery at the conference.
“In presenting the teachings of the Church, from Humanae Vitae to Amoris Laetitia, we have been invited by Pope Francis to serve our neighbours as Jesus Christ himself did during his earthly life”, wrote the Prefect. “By focussing their vison on these two documents, married couples can direct their pastoral care programmes in such a way as to embrace the clear evolution of the Church’s teaching contained in the Apostolic Exhortation Familiaris Consortio, in the catechesis of Saint John Paul II on the Theology of the Body, in the invitation of the Instruction Donum Vitae to an informed and authentic respect of human procreation and human life, in the Encyclical Evangelium Vitae on the wonder of human life and lastly on the call to families to teach respect for life and for “our common home” in Pope Francis’s Encyclical, “Laudato si’”.
