During their quinquennial Ad Limina Apostolorum Visit, the Bishops of the Malawi Bishops' Conference also visited the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life.
On March 28, 2023, the group of Malawian Bishops met with the Superiors of the Dicastery with whom they shared their experiences, projects and initiatives related to the issues the Dicastery deals with. They discussed formation and apostolate of the laity, youth ministry, family and human life, as well as the reality of the Church Movements and Associations in their territory.
The Church in Malawi is made up of 8 dioceses, one of which is currently vacant. It is a growing Church thanks also to its social works: schools, hospitals, apostolate in prisons, Caritas, but it is also a very poor Church particularly in this post-pandemic time and following the destruction caused by Cyclone Freddy that recently affected thousands of families and communities in the country.
