Charis
On the path towards 2033
An agenda from the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services to celebrate 2000 years from Christ's death and resurrection
A work agenda to plan a path toward 2033: missions, events and celebrations for the 2000th anniversary of Christ's death and resurrection. This is the proposal of Charis, the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services, which through a video extends Pope Francis' invitation to several Church leaders, movements and communities to creatively prepare for the date.
“What can you begin to do, starting tomorrow? Have you thought about it?”
Pope Francis calls all to take action: “What can you begin to do, starting tomorrow? Have you thought about it?” and Charis explains that “In view of this epochal event not only for the Christian faith, we want to work in faith and a specific attention to celebrate it with dignity. There are three goals: to become aware of the historical moment we are living, reading the signs of the times of this decade and trying to do concrete things; to expand the tent, encouraging concrete actions of evangelization and ecumenism in order to be at the same time an 'outgoing' Church as well as a 'home' that welcomes those who wish to live it. Furthermore, we must promote communion through our actions, sharing gifts, charisms and inspirations, many of which we have already noticed in the synodal journey: it is not a matter", they say, "of inventing new missions or new apostolates, rather of aligning them with the vision of the 2033 Agenda”.
“Now is the time to put into practice the words and deeds that Christ inspired into the hearts of each one of us.”
Together with the Holy Father, Cardinal Kevin Farrell and Dr. Linda Ghisoni also extended their invitation. “This is the moment”, said Card. Farrell, “when we need, after 2000 years from the life of Christ here on the earth, that we now come together as one community, and put into practice those words and deeds, that Christ gave and inspired into the hearts of each one of us”.
