Panama: The Countdown Has Started
Just one year until the WYD: Preparations are now lively, with a meeting in Stuttgart

Putting the spotlights on young people is also on the Dicastery’s agenda for 2018. With the aim of reflecting together on “how to plan youth ministry in the Movement, to bring young people closer to Christ and put themselves at the service of the Church,” Father João Chagas, head of our Dicastery’s Youth Office, met a few days ago with the youth pastoral workers of the Regnum Christi Movement (photo).
Today, Fr. Chagas is in Stuttgart, Germany, at the Catholic Academy of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart, for a meeting with the Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa Mendieta from Panama and the European youth pastoral coordinators.
This is a new stage in the preparations of the upcoming World Youth Day, which are really beginning to become lively at exactly one year from the event (the WYD will be celebrated from 22 to 27 January 2019).
Registration will begin in the coming weeks: hundreds of thousands of young people are expected.
Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa Mendieta recently recalled the four pillars of the pastoral preparation: safeguarding the Creation, Synod, service, holiness.
