For a Diocesan Itinerary of Marriage Preparation

From the Archdiocese of Palermo, a document based on the experiences gathered by pastoral care workers compared with the documents of the Church

After long elaboration, the Family Ministry Office of the Archdiocese of Palermo has presented the document “For a Diocesan Itinerary of Marriage Preparation.”

The text is the result of the collection and study of the family ministry workers’ experiences constantly compared not only with the documents on marriage preparation elaborated by the Church in recent years but also with the diocesan presbyteral and pastoral council.

The document intends to reach three main objectives: the proposal of an ecclesial unity in the service of marriage preparation based on a basic theoretical scheme of organic and integral formation, a methodological formula to concretize the commitment to a path of formation, and the formation of a group of workers trained by a priest and married couples or other workers.

It is significant that this document fits into the diocesan project which, in this pastoral year, is focused on the education of young people to the faith.
