WYD Seoul 2027
The WYD Seoul 2027 will take place from 3 to 8 August 2027
Pope Leo XIV announces the dates of the next international edition of the World Youth Day

At the end of the Angelus prayer, immediately after Holy Mass on the occasion of the Youth Jubilee 2025, Pope Leo XIV announced the dates of the next World Youth Day in Seoul in 2027: "I renew the invitation that Pope Francis extended in Lisbon two years ago. Young people from all over the world will gather together with the Successor of Peter to celebrate World Youth Day in Seoul, Korea, from 3 to 8 August 2027. "
Our pilgrimage of hope continues, therefore, uniting young people from all over the world in a symbolic journey from WYD in Lisbon in 2023 to WYD in Seoul in 2027, passing through the intermediate stages of local WYD celebrations and the recently concluded Youth Jubilee.
Card. Farrell: "It is up to young people to become witnesses of peace in this world torn apart by divisions, conflicts and wars"
‘We are grateful to the Holy Father for announcing the dates of the next international edition of the Day,’ commented Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, "and we invite all formators, youth ministry offices and bishops to walk together towards Seoul, guided by the theme of WYD Seoul 2027: Take courage! I have overcome the world! (cf. John 16:33) . It is precisely the joy of hope, experienced in this Jubilee Year, that gives us the courage to proclaim the victory of the Risen One to the whole world. It is up to young people to become pilgrims of hope to heal loneliness and poverty, and to become witnesses of peace in this world torn apart by divisions, conflicts and wars."
“The organisation of WYD Seoul 2027 has begun and is proceeding apace towards the dates chosen by the Holy Father,” says Dr Gleison De Paula Souza, Secretary of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life. “Together with the Local Organising Committee in Seoul, we are working to ensure that bishops and young people from all over the world, welcomed by the Korean Church, will gather to witness that encountering Christ changes lives and gives courage to overcome the challenges they face.”

Each year, the Pope offers young people a Message on the occasion of World Youth Day in the particular Churches, which is celebrated annually on the Solemnity of Christ the King. While awaiting the Message for WYD 2025, the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life reminds everyone that all the Messages are available on the website www.laityfamilylife.va.
