From Aparecida: Young People on Mission in Brazilian Cities

Saturday, July 29^th marked the end of Aparecida “Rota 300,” a missionary project that involved many young people. The initiative is part of a three-year pastoral project promoted by the Brazilian Bishops’ Conference on the occasion of the 300^th anniversary of the recovery of the image of Our Lady Aparecida, in Brazil.

These three years ended a few days ago with an intense missionary experience. Nearly 2000 young people spent a whole week on mission, evangelizing in the dioceses near Aparecida. The anniversary celebrations of the recovery were concluded on Saturday, July 29^th, with a series of activities at the National Shrine.

On this occasion, Fr. João Chagas, head of the youth section of our Dicastery, personally brought a message from the Holy Father addressed to the young Brazilians. Fr. João also gave a brief catechesis on the theme “The Almighty has done great things for me.”
